John Varvatos JV x NJ Silver Eau de Toilette 125ml Spray

The quality of the product, if you are planning to give this as a gift, is excellent. The bottle is thick, crimson coloured and has a hexagonal stopper in matt metal that resembles a wheel nut from a car. Round the neck is a tag, also in matt metal, inscribed JV x NJ. I took a photo of the box and bottle as part of this review. It seems quite a rare scent, certainly not one I see or smell often - though I have to confess I don't spend a lot of time searching these things out! I think it might have originally been a limited release that has perhaps been given a wider exposure. What does it smell like? I sprayed a some on my wrist and a bit on my neck. The first smell I got, and it lasted only seconds, was of citrus, but it was replaced really quickly as the spray evaporated by a more spicy, leathery scent - with (to me at least) more than a hint of spiced Christmas coffee- with rum (a favourite and one I really wasn't expecting!). An hour later, and I asked around for office opinions. First thing was that it was popular, and people wanted to know what it was. Second thing was that the NJ' connection raised a few eyebrows - though that was probably my age (I'd have got a similar reaction, no doubt, if I'd said I had just become a major fan of the Jonas brothers). Third thing, and the nicest surprise, was that two people asked where I'd got it and could I get them one too. So it does definitely seem popular. By this time, I'd say the smell was very amber-y, and wood-y. I really liked it - I think there's no doubt it's a younger person's scent, but I enjoyed wearing it and will be buying another bottle when this is gone.. Overall, I think you could say it's a bit like Sauvage (not Eau Sauvage, though). How does it last. Well, it goes through changes when you wear it, and it is quite light, but it certainly lasted 4 hours and was noticed - and complimented - after that time. By evening, I think it had faded, but it was never one of those scents that grabbed you and wouldn't let go - it's more subtle than that. I keep coming back to a spicy, fruity coffee with rum - if that makes sense. It reminded me of happy winter days, log fires, and that picture-book snow scene where everyone is happy and no one is cold! Overall An unusual scent, and one that not everyone is wearing. Not too strong, but noticeable, and people did like it. Mainly amber and woodiness after a while, but as I said earlier, there's definitely spice, coffee and rum in the mix somewhere. It was a really pleasant surprise, and one I'll be buying more of.

This smells really nice I have a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old and a husband who is 42 and they are all using it. Bit pricey in my opinion for a celebrity brand as it's price is more like a designer brand but it does smell really nice and lasts all evening on them

This is a eau de toilette spray 75 ml This fragrance arrives packaged well and sealed. The bottle is designed in a hombre or maroon and brown/black. Leather tag can be then used as a key chain or a decoration. Price is reasonable for 75ml Fragrance Scent Notes: Cuban Rum The fragrance opens with spicy richness. Leather Aromatic notes emanate masculine comfort. Madagascar Vetiver Deep musks add transparent warmth and addictive edge. Fragrance is a mix of Dior with Boss in my opinion. Trendy and fresh. I quite like it on my husband. I do not know why but men's fragrances tend to linger longer than womens. This one is no exception. It stays on very well providing it eau de toilette. The bottom line is I like it and my husband likes it too.

This is an EDT designed with men in mind but I do rather like some male fragrances. This is not a heavy woody scent but the patchouli and musk are quite evident. It has a light refreshing appeal rather than heavy and sultry so it could be worn any season and also day or evening. It comes sealed with clear plastic around a silver-grey box that is darker at the base fading to silver at the top.The bottle inside mirrors this same colour scheme. The lid is a solid black pentagonal shape with a mock leather neck hanging holding the brand name plaque. the bottle is heavy and solid but has a lovely smooth rounded oval shape. The initial aroma when first sprayed it quite fresh but it dries down to the more subtle, creamy warm, woody aroma after a few minutes. This is not a cheap EDT at 55 for 75ml but it has a quality feel to the packaging and the aroma is one I would expect from a more xpensive brand.

I know the packaging etc shouldn't really make any difference, and I guess it doesn't really, but I have to say, this is a really lovely bottle the sort you find difficult to throw when finished! Of course, no matter how nice the bottle is, the fragrance is what really counts the most! Well, I know it is to a degree subjective, but this is gorgeous and my wife thinks so too, so that's a bonus LOL! I know people talk about top notes, this and that, etc., but I just know if I like something, I like it, and just describe it in simple terms! So then, the fragrance is gorgeous, and it lasts which is good to know. The fragrance, I can best describe is really fresh and natural, in some ways like a quality soap. It's not cloying or unnatural like some, just really natural, almost summery. All in all, a top quality Eau de toilette, beautifully presented. 75ml, so a good size. For the quality, not bad value at all.
